Applications now open for Bluebonnet Market in downtown Ennis
Known as the Bluebonnet Market, the Ennis farmers market is located in the 100 block of N. Dallas St., downtown. The market is open from 8 a.m.-noon on Saturdays, with the 2025 season kicking off April 5 and continuing through Oct. 25.
There is no charge for a market vendor permit (which includes cottage food producers); however, all vendors must be approved and obtain a market vendor permit from the city. Food vendors are subject to additional fees and requirements set by the city’s health department. Temporary food establishment permits are $50, which covers the entire market season.
Promotional booths are available for $50 for one market date in one season. Fundraiser booths are offered at no charge for entities such as nonprofits, school groups, churches, etc. The promotional and fundraiser categories also go through the market vendor permitting process.
“The Bluebonnet Market builds a sense of community and promotes the continuing growth and economic development of the city of Ennis and its historic downtown,” the city of Ennis writes on its website. “The Bluebonnet Market is also perfect for small, startup businesses wishing to test the market prior to opening a brick-and-mortar location.”
The Ennis farmers market first opened in 2014 and was renamed as the Bluebonnet Market in 2020. Vendor offerings range from produce and food items to handmade crafted items and more. The 2024 season saw junior exhibitors join the market midsummer after they graduated from the city’s new Big Dreams, Little Tables program, which serves to train young entrepreneurs.
