The Ennis City Commission recently unanimously voted to extend an offer for the position of city manager to Andrea Weckmueller-Behringer.

“This decision was made collectively by the city commission after a thorough and deliberate process,” said Mayor Kameron Raburn. “Andrea has a strong background in city infrastructure planning and growing communities, and we’re confident that her leadership will help guide Ennis into its next chapter.”

According to her LinkedIn profile, Weckmueller-Behringer has 27 years of experience in and with local government and project management, 17 of which have been in leadership positions.

She most recently served as interim city manager in Eufaula, Oklahoma, and as city manager for Shawnee, Oklahoma. She holds licenses and certifications with the American Institute of Certified Planners, as a Geographic Information Systems Professional, and as a Registered Accessibility Specialist. She received her master’s degree in physical geography from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany.

She describes herself in her LinkedIn bio as “community-focused, highly organized, performance-driven, and effective,” as well as an “approachable, fair leader and mentor.”

With its decision, the commission authorized the mayor to negotiate and execute an employment agreement with Weckmueller-Behringer, according to the media release.

The media release also noted that under the city charter (Article IV Section 4.01), the commission as a body holds the authority to hire and remove the city manager, city secretary, city attorney, and municipal judge. The mayor does not have the authority to hire or fire city staff independently, and all personnel decisions below the city manager level fall under the city manager's responsibility.
