Harrison named to House Appropriations Committee

AUSTIN – Speaker Dustin Burrows, R-Lubbock, has announced committee assignments for the Texas House of Representatives.
Locally, state Rep. Brian Harrison, R-Midlothian, was appointed to the Appropriations Committee (seniority appointment) and to the Corrections Committee (speaker appointment).
Harrison serves District 10, which encompasses all of Ellis County. He was first elected to the state House via a special election in 2021. The seat had been vacated by Jake Ellzey, R-Midlothian, who was elected to U.S. House District 6 in a special election.

The state Senate committee assignments were set by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick during the first week of the 89th Legislature, which kicked off its regular session Jan. 14. The assignments for Ellis County’s senators can be found here.
Sen. Brian Birdwell, R-Granbury, serves roughly the western side of the county within his Senate District 22, while Sen. Bob Hall, R-Rockwall, has the remainder within his Senate District 2.
