Legislative Day in Austin
Leadership Ellis County and other organizations are hosting a Legislative Day in Austin. Tickets are available now for the trip, which is planned for Wednesday, Feb. 19.
“Join us in representing the Waxahachie business community and all of Ellis County as we work together to build a thriving region for future generations,” the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce said in a Facebook post.
Also participating are the Ennis and Red Oak Area chambers, Best Southwest Partnership, and Leadership Southwest.
State House District 10 encompasses all of Ellis County, which is represented by Rep. Brian Harrison (R-Midlothian). Sen. Brian Birdwell (R-Granbury, SD 22) represents much of the western half of the county while Sen. Bob Hall (R-Edgewood, SD 2) represents the remainder.
The 89th Legislative Session for the state of Texas convenes at noon Tuesday, Jan. 14, and continues through Monday, June 2.
Several ticket tiers are available for Legislative Day:
• ride along (bus) – general – $150
• ride along (bus) – LEC alumni – $125
• meet up in Austin – $75
All packages include one seat at the luncheon and reception. All meals are included.
The tentative schedule:
• 5 a.m. – meet, grab breakfast, and go
• 5:30 a.m. – depart
• 9 a.m. – arrive in Austin
• 10 a.m. – acknowledgment from the floors (state House and Senate)
• 11:30 a.m. – photo opp
• noon – lunch with presentations
• 1 p.m. – guest presentations
• 2 p.m. – Capitol tour (offered for “rookies”)
• 4 p.m. – legislative reception
• 6 p.m. – depart Austin
