TxDOT to host open house Thursday on SS394 in Waxahachie

The public is invited to attend an open house-type meeting relating to the Texas Department of Transportation’s proposed State Spur 394 south of Waxahachie.

The proposed roadway would extend 1.7 miles east from I-35E to FM 877 (Howard Road) and is described in a TxDOT notice as having “four lanes divided, with two 12-foot-wide lanes going eastbound and westbound and bicyclist and pedestrian facilities on both sides.”

The project’s proposed right-of-way varies from about 140 to 300 feet, with no new right-of-way anticipated, according to the notice, which adds that no residential and other structures are expected to be displaced.

The meeting will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20, in the Dunaway Elementary School cafeteria, 600 S. U.S. Highway 77 in Waxahachie. TxDOT representatives and project consultants will be on hand to answer any questions.

Those unable to attend the in-person setting may view all materials online at https://www.keepitmovingdallas.com/projects/other/SS394 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20. That online-accessible availability continues through 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 4.

“The same information will be available at the in-person and virtual meeting,” according to a TxDOT notice.

The online site will include a pre-recorded presentation with audio and video components along with the project’s exhibits and other information.

Those unable to attend the in-person meeting and who don’t have internet access may call 214-320-6603 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday to ask questions and access project materials. Materials become available at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20, and may be viewed in person at the TxDOT Dallas District office, 4777 E. Highway 80 in Mesquite. Call 214-320-6603 to make an appointment.
